Ortho TIDBIT:
An "archwire" is a U-shaped piece of wire which is attached to brackets which are, in turn, attached to your teeth. The purpose of the archwire is to shape the layout of the teeth into an optimal arch pattern. As your teeth are moved in orthodontic treatment, the archwire provides a guiding and shaping force to achieve the desired arch shape.

About Us

For those patients who have not met Dr. Ross, we would like to offer the following biographical information: A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dr. Ross received his B.A. from West Virginia University. Locally, he is an active volunteer for the United Way and a member of the Chicora Rotary Club. The staff

When you enter the doors (for the first time) you will be greeted by Young or Caroline.

  • Young is our administrative coordinator and is responsible for overseeing the function and efficiency of our office. Her duties include anything from making appointments to assisting chairside.
  • Caroline is our chief scheduling coordinator and will always greet you with a smile.
  • Beverly is our treatment/new-patient coordinators and are primarily responsible for making sure your transition into treatment is as smooth as possible. They will handle all communication necessary for understanding all of the factors involved in treatment including financing and insurance plans.

You will be given a tour of the office and be brought to a consult room by Michele or Beverly. Michele will help you with the new patient exams and she will see you or your child for periodic observation appointments in case you are not ready to start treatment.

Before active treatment begins, we need to have a plan. Planning is done by careful reviews of patient records. Our records include mounted study models, two special x-rays and images (digital photos) of the patient's face and teeth. Your records will probably be taken by Marsha.

The team works chairside to apply, adjust, and remove your braces. They work closely with Dr. Ross and have all developed exceptional skills. All clinical staff have taken and passed the South Carolina Orthodontic Healthcare exam or are in the preparatory stages.

Marsha in the Lab Marsha is also our lab technician. Marsha's talents include fabrication of just about all of our working and retainer appliances. If you have a special design for your retainer, she can probably make it!
